Job Overview

A law firm seeks an attorney with experience defending workers' compensation cases to join their Chicago, IL office. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in workers' compensation defense work and be admitted to the Illinois bar.

Duties

• Gather and review medical evidence and records.
• Take depositions of claimants, physicians, and other parties.
• Conduct discovery and perform legal research.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
• Litigate cases before an administrative law judge.
• Represent employer or insurer interests at various proceedings.
• Communicate with claims representatives and monitor reports.
• Assist in accident investigations and manage costs.
• Compile and submit management reports.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.

Requirements

• J.D. and admission to the Illinois bar; additional Midwest state bar admission is a plus.
• Experience in workers' compensation defense work.
• Knowledge of legal principles, practices, and terminology.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook; Perfect Law preferred.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.)
