Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to focus on USCIS applications and removal defense matters in San Juan, PR. Location:

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

Duties:

  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court testimony

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA)

  • Prepare and file a wide range of immigration applications, including family-based petitions and humanitarian relief

  • Visit detention centers and conduct intake interviews with detained individuals

  • Review and revise immigration application packets and supporting documentation

  • Provide legal analysis and identify available relief options for clients

  • Draft and submit legal briefs, motions, and memoranda

  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations on policy updates and legal outreach

  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients and manage active caseloads

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience practicing immigration law

  • Demonstrated ability to manage cases from intake through resolution

  • Familiarity with USCIS procedures, EOIR practices, and removal defense

  • Strong commitment to client advocacy and legal ethics

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required

  • Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills

  • Effective interpersonal communication and collaboration abilities

  • Experience with family-based petitions, citizenship, humanitarian relief, and detained cases

  • Proficiency in immigration case management software preferred
