A well-established law firm located in Winston Salem, NC, is seeking a highly qualified Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in U.S. patent law, specifically focused on patent applications, and will be fluent in both Japanese and English. The attorney will collaborate closely with the firm's Tokyo office, contributing to a wide range of high-impact legal work within the field of electronics and software.

Duties:

• Prepare and prosecute U.S. patent applications, with a focus on electronics and software-related inventions
• Provide legal guidance and strategic advice regarding patent portfolios and intellectual property matters
• Communicate and collaborate with clients, both in the U.S. and Japan, to ensure alignment of goals and objectives
• Assist in patent litigation matters, as needed
• Conduct patentability assessments and freedom-to-operate analyses
• Stay informed about changes in patent law and industry developments to provide cutting-edge counsel

Requirements:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in patent prosecution, with a focus on U.S. patent applications
• Fluency in both Japanese and English (written and spoken)
• Strong analytical and technical skills in patent law, particularly in the electronics and software sectors
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented, with a high level of accuracy in drafting patent applications and legal documents

Education:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required

Certifications:

• USPTO Registration required

Skills:

• Expertise in patent prosecution procedures and U.S. patent law
• Proficiency in technical areas related to electronics, software, and engineering
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-office environment
