Job Title: Bankruptcy Attorney
Job Overview:
A law firm based in Dallas, TX, is seeking a motivated attorney to join its established bankruptcy practice. Duties:
Engage with attorneys and staff to ensure consistency in bankruptcy practice processes, documentation, and compliance
Provide strategic recommendations on individual loan matters by federal bankruptcy laws, local rules, and case precedents
Review and prepare filings such as:
Proofs of claim
Notices of mortgage payment changes
Notices of fees and costs
Draft legal documents, including motions, objections, certifications, pleadings, letters, and related materials
Represent clients at court hearings, conferences, and other formal legal proceedings
Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case updates and developments via email, calls, and client platforms
Respond promptly to communications from court personnel, opposing counsel, trustees, and related stakeholders
Identify and escalate complex matters when required
Handle additional legal assignments as needed
Requirements:
Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction across various professional levels
1+ years of experience representing secured creditors/mortgage services is preferred
Demonstrated ability to organize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment
Adept at resolving issues and analyzing case-specific needs
Capable of managing multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy and timeliness
Proactive work ethic with a strong sense of ownership and initiative
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
Skills:
Prior experience in creditor-side bankruptcy or mortgage default law is advantageous
Familiarity with relevant court procedures and electronic case filing systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
