Job Overview:
A Solana Beach-based law firm with a long-standing reputation in estate planning and asset preservation is actively seeking a seasoned attorney to join its estate planning practice. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience advising affluent individuals and business owners on legacy planning, charitable giving, tax-efficient strategies, and business succession. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside an experienced team in a supportive, collaborative environment just steps from the coast.

Duties:

• Advise high-net-worth individuals and families on customized estate planning strategies

• Draft complex trusts and other estate planning instruments tailored to client needs

• Structure and implement tax minimization strategies related to gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer taxes

• Counsel clients on philanthropic endeavors, including charitable trusts and private foundations

• Assist with business succession planning and entity formation

• Guide real estate transactions tied to estate transfers and administration

• Oversee trust and estate administration, ensuring compliance and proper asset distribution

• Collaborate with external professionals including accountants and financial advisors to deliver holistic wealth management solutions

• Conduct in-depth legal research and stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments

• Maintain strict confidentiality with client financial and personal information

• Supervise and support junior attorneys and legal staff

• Ensure consistent application of internal firm policies and procedures

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in estate planning for high-net-worth individuals

• Demonstrated proficiency in drafting trusts, wills, and entity-related documents

• Familiarity with tax strategies, charitable planning, and wealth preservation techniques

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build client relationships

• Capable of managing complex legal matters independently and as part of a team

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• An active member of the California State Bar

• Admission to additional jurisdictions such as Wyoming, Nevada, or Florida is considered advantageous

Skills:

• Advanced legal drafting and research capabilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills

• Skilled in client counseling and managing sensitive matters

• Proficient in legal tools such as Westlaw, CEB OnLaw, and estate planning software
