Junior Environmental Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Junior Environmental Associate Attorney to join their team. The role involves serving in environmental due diligence, compliance issues, enforcement matters, climate disclosure, and litigation related to environmental statutes. The ideal candidate must have strong academic credentials, excellent research and writing skills, and be admitted to the D.C. Bar or eligible to waive in.

Duties:

• Serve in environmental due diligence issues and evaluation of risk mitigation measures in corporate and real estate transactions.
• Handle compliance matters related to RCRA, CERCLA, CAA, CWA, TSCA, FIFRA, and state laws.
• Address environmental enforcement matters and climate disclosure.
• Participate in litigation, including agency challenges under the Administrative Procedure Act and core environmental statutes such as CWA, NEPA, ESA, and CERCLA.

Requirements:

• Admitted to the D.C. Bar or eligible to waive into the D.C. Bar.
• 1-2 years of experience covering a broad range of environmental issues.

Education & Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the D.C. Bar or eligibility for waiver.

Skills:

• Strong academic credentials.
• Excellent research and writing skills.
• Ability to work on widely varying matters as part of a dynamic team.
• Familiarity with environmental laws and regulations, including RCRA, CERCLA, CAA, CWA, TSCA, FIFRA, NEPA, ESA, and analogous state statutes.
