Assistant Attorney General
The candidate will work for Arts, Education, Commissions, and Boards Division. Will be responsible for litigating matters in administrative hearings and state circuit courts and appellate work before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. Responsibilities will include assisting with policy development and implementation; engaging with other state and federal agencies on the client’s behalf; drafting legislative rules; appearing before legislative committees; presenting to administrative boards; responding to Freedom of Information Act requests; advising the client on day-to-day operations; and general counsel and advice. The Division represents various state education agencies and institutions, and regulatory boards and commissions. Should preferably have 5+ years of litigation experience. Strong written and oral advocacy skills are required, as well as the ability to travel. Must have an active WV law license.
