Senior Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Chicago, Illinois, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with 8-12 years of litigation experience. The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in handling complex commercial litigation matters and possess excellent writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.

Duties:

• Manage all aspects of complex and sophisticated litigation, including developing litigation strategy, drafting pleadings, substantive motions, and written discovery.
• Handle a variety of commercial litigation matters, including breach of contract, shareholder/LLC disputes, unfair competition, restrictive covenants, breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent conveyance, asset purchase liability, professional negligence, breach of warranty, real estate litigation, UCC disputes, construction litigation, product liability, trusts and estates disputes, and appellate litigation.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy.
• Take and defend depositions, interview witnesses, and prepare for trial or arbitration.
• Work directly with clients to provide legal advice and counsel.
• Communicate with opposing counsel and negotiate settlements.
• First or second-chair trials and evidentiary hearings.
• Maintain strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage caseloads.

Requirements:

• 8-12 years of litigation experience, with a focus on commercial litigation.
• Excellent writing and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Sharp oral advocacy skills with deposition and/or courtroom experience.
• Federal or state clerkship experience is a plus.
• Portable book of business is preferred.
• Must be currently licensed in Illinois or licensed in another state with a UBE score that qualifies in Illinois for comity, be eligible to waive in, or be willing to sit for an upcoming IL Bar exam.

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
