Insurance Defense Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeks a skilled and dedicated Insurance Defense Attorney to join its New York-based team. This is a full-time position with an opportunity to handle a variety of cases across the five boroughs, from initial case intake through discovery to resolution, including trial. The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense matters and be comfortable representing clients in court.

Duties

• Manage insurance defense cases from inception to resolution, including handling trial preparation and conducting trials to verdict.
• Represent clients in various court proceedings, depositions, and other legal actions.
• Draft legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and team members on case strategies and client communications.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal regulations and statutes in the defense process.

Requirements

• Active New York State Bar license (required).
• Experience in handling insurance defense matters, with actual trial experience to verdict (required).
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage a caseload.
• Excellent communication and legal writing skills.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• New Jersey Bar admission is a plus.
• Ability to travel for court appearances and legal proceedings as required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in New York State (required).
• New Jersey Bar membership (preferred).
