Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Labor & Employment Senior Associate in New York. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation, compliance, and counseling, with at least six years of experience advising employers on labor and employment matters.

Duties

  • Advise employers on federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and leave issues.
  • Counsel clients on traditional labor matters such as collective bargaining negotiations, labor arbitrations, and union-avoidance strategies.
  • Manage agency investigations before the EEOC, DOL, and relevant state agencies.
  • Support employment litigation matters, including conducting discovery and depositions.
  • Draft employment policies, handbooks, and employment agreements.
  • Assist with labor relations matters, including unions, collective bargaining processes, and arbitration proceedings.
  • Provide clients with practical, business-focused recommendations and solutions.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • 6+ years of labor and employment law experience.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and sound judgment.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and commitment to exceptional service.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Excellent client-relation skills.
  • Admission to the New York bar required; admission in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and/or Connecticut is a plus.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school.
