Senior Counsel Employment Law

The candidate will provide day-to-day proactive employment law advice, assistance, and counsel to HR and management on a variety of subjects. Research general legal issues. Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience. Help drive compliance with labor and employment laws and regulations, including the development, implementation, interpretation, and maintenance of employment-related HR and operational policies and procedures, as well as developing and delivering training materials. Serve as a key member of the employment law team, leading special projects to identify and proactively manage employment-related legal risks such as in connection with mergers/acquisitions, and reductions in force. Assist in the development and presentation of education and training materials to HR and business stakeholders. Draft employment-related agreements, such as severance agreements, repayment agreements, and restrictive covenant agreements. Identify legal issues, locate applicable legal authority, and recommend appropriate and defensible courses of action. Display both individual initiative and the ability to work within and for a team. An undergraduate degree and a Juris Doctorate (from an ABA-accredited law school) - Licensed to practice law in the state in which the candidate will be working. Should have 8+ years of legal work almost exclusively in the labor and employment field. Law firm experience is preferred. Should have the ability to thoroughly, effectively, and efficiently conduct employment law research and synthesize large amounts of information in short periods of time while evaluating fact situations. Should have the ability to communicate clearly and, interact effectively at all levels of the organization, and to influence as warranted and appropriate. Manage multiple projects while maintaining superior results. Work cross-functionally, individually, and, lead work among a team internally and externally. Execution oriented and a self-motivator.
