Business Development and Marketing Manager

The candidate leads the business development and marketing efforts for a number of key client accounts, which are a strategic priority for the firm, and support program infrastructure. Develops and supports the implementation of key initiatives, including business plans, client satisfaction reviews, lawyer training and other initiatives to enhance business development efforts; engages in research, analysis and competitive intelligence-gathering for strategic planning, competitive firm positioning and business development activities; and provides direction and deployment support of various technology tools and related databases for assigned client team(s). Manages responses to RFPs, and pitch, presentation, and other opportunities via the development of written proposal and presentation materials for assigned client team(s) and liaises with other industry and product groups, departments, practices and/or country initiatives as needed. Manages day-to-day responsibilities to ensure that assignments and projects are effectively managed and in alignment with the firm's overall strategic efforts, and that service to internal and external clients is exceptional. Develops and supports annual business development and marketing business plans for assigned client team(s), focused on priorities outlined by firm leaders and/or assigned team leaders, including thought leadership platforms, communications and client outreach. Collaborates with business development & marketing department leadership and assigned client team(s), to develop annual budgets to support initiatives outlined in business plan(s) or as outlined by leadership, including specifying key strategic and tactical objectives and means to achieve annual goals. Manages and directs business development and marketing and client development programs for assigned client team(s). Assists with the supervision and training of more junior team members. Provides support for seminars, sponsorships, and other events pursued by the firm. Preparation of targeted information for inclusion in lateral recruiting packet. Supports integration of lateral lawyers into assigned department(s) and practice(s) via preparation of biographies and announcements, distribution of announcements, integration of contacts into firm's CRM system. Collects and integrates of experience for department, practice and industry group materials. Coordination with Communications team as to internal and external communications relating to the lawyer's arrival. Manages continuous communications and interaction with client team(s), including responsibility for periodic meetings, reports, analysis and progress monitoring, etc.. Supports coordination of business development training for lawyers in assigned client team(s). Periodically reviews and consults with lawyers in assigned areas regarding their bios and practice descriptions to ensure that they are kept current. Supports the collection and maintenance of CRM-based contact and other data for marketing planning and for mailing lists for assigned client team(s). Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives. An undergraduate degree, preferably in a business development, marketing, research, or communications-related field, and a secondary degree (e.g., a Master’s degree, a Ph.D., an MBA, or a J.D.) is preferred. Should have 6+ years of demonstrated success in a marketing, research, management, and/or communications-related field, either in the professional services (e.g., law, accounting, or consulting) or in a comparable position(s) in the corporate, trade association, or academic sectors.
