Duties

  • Prepare draft patent applications incorporating scientific aspects of inventions.
  • Draft responses to communications from U.S. and foreign patent offices.
  • Discuss scientific aspects of inventions with clients and provide reports to attorneys.
  • Act as liaison between inventors and the Patent & Trademark Office.
  • Evaluate and report on technological aspects of inventions.
  • Advise attorneys on technologies and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Draft, organize, and analyze documents and client files.
  • Conduct regulatory and factual research.
  • Coordinate workflow with outside service providers.
  • Identify and solve complex patent issues.
  • Provide guidance to legal support staff.
  • Stay updated on technology trends and patent prosecution issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering preferred.
  • Licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office preferred.
  • Strong investigative and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse individuals.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks under time constraints.
  • Knowledge of time management and project management strategies.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and travel as needed.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering preferred.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office preferred.
