Duties

  • Provide thorough legal guidance on immigration processes and legal strategy

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before immigration courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Draft and review immigration filings, including family-based petitions and humanitarian relief applications

  • Manage a diverse caseload and maintain client communication throughout the legal process

  • Conduct intake interviews, including with detained individuals at detention centers

  • Prepare legal briefs, motions, and supporting documentation for hearings and filings

  • Collaborate with legal assistants and attorneys for case strategy and preparation

  • Engage with law enforcement and local organizations regarding updates in immigration policy

  • Develop a testimony strategy and prepare clients and witnesses for interviews and court appearances

  • Evaluate case eligibility and develop customized legal plans for clients

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of experience handling immigration matters in a legal setting

  • Demonstrated ability to manage cases and work within a team independently

  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills

  • Comfortable representing clients in court and communicating complex legal ideas clearly

  • Familiarity with detained and non-detained immigration cases

  • Proficiency in using legal practice software is a plus

  • Spanish fluency preferred but not required

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Admission to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction

Certifications

  • Active and good standing with the State Bar

Skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal and client-relations skills

  • Ability to manage time and caseload efficiently

  • Strategic thinking and attention to legal detail
