Litigation Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeks a skilled Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Chicago, IL, office. This role involves defending a range of liability matters, collaborating with seasoned attorneys, and supporting high‐stakes cases. Hybrid flexibility is offered.

Duties

• Work alongside senior attorneys to manage personal injury, professional liability, medical malpractice, and employment liability cases

• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests and responses

• Organize and oversee document review and evidence gathering

• Take and defend depositions, and represent clients at hearings and trials

• Conduct legal research and synthesize case law to inform defense strategies

• Attend client consultations, mediations, and settlement negotiations

Requirements

• 3–5 years of civil litigation experience focusing on liability defense

• Proven ability to manage case files from inception through resolution

• Strong written and verbal advocacy skills, with keen attention to detail

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois (Indiana and/or Wisconsin admission a plus)

• Demonstrated aptitude for working independently and as part of a collaborative team

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active membership in the Illinois State Bar

• Admission to additional Midwestern bars (e.g., Indiana or Wisconsin) is preferred but not required

Skills

• Exceptional drafting and legal research capabilities

• Proficiency in deposition practice, motion practice, and courtroom advocacy

• Effective communication with clients, experts, and opposing counsel

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple case responsibilities simultaneously

• Familiarity with litigation management software and e‐discovery platforms
