Job Overview:
A well-established California-based law firm is actively seeking a mid-level associate attorney with 2–5 years of experience to join its Environment & Land Use practice. This position offers early substantive responsibility and opportunities for advancement while working on impactful projects in both the public and private sectors. The firm’s Environment & Land Use group serves clients across industries including renewable energy, transportation, utilities, housing, commercial development, and public infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney with a strong interest in environmental law, particularly in land use and regulatory matters.
Location:
Austin, TX
Duties:
Perform land use and environmental due diligence
Advise on land use entitlements and environmental/resource permitting
Provide compliance counseling under CEQA and NEPA
Represent clients in defense of zoning and environmental approvals in state and federal court
Collaborate with attorneys from other practice groups on cross-disciplinary projects
Requirements:
2–5 years of relevant legal experience in environment and land use law
Demonstrated interest in environmental issues and regulatory compliance
Experience with CEQA/NEPA and permitting processes preferred
Prior litigation experience related to land use or environmental approvals is a plus
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active membership in the State Bar of California (required)
Skills:
Excellent legal research and analytical capabilities
Exceptional writing and drafting proficiency
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage complex, deadline-driven matters
Collaborative mindset and ability to work across legal teams
