Job Overview

A reputable law firm located in Wheaton, MD, seeks a dedicated and experienced Immigration Attorney to join its growing team. The role focuses on providing legal counsel and representation to clients navigating immigration matters, including removal defense and business immigration. Fluency in Spanish and English is required, with additional language skills being a plus.

Duties

• Handle and manage multiple immigration cases, including removal proceedings.
• Represent clients in court and before government agencies.
• Provide legal advice on immigration relief eligibility and prepare applications for submission to USCIS and Immigration Court.
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Collaborate with clients to understand and address their unique needs.
• Travel to meet with clients detained at immigration centers as necessary.
• Potentially assist in other legal practice areas as needed by the firm.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience practicing immigration law.
• Active Bar License in good standing from any U.S. state (VA/MD Bar preferred).
• Strong understanding of immigration laws and court procedures.
• Proficiency in legal representation for bond hearings, removal defense, and business immigration (e.g., L, H, B, E visas, I-140s, PERMs).
• Positive, professional, and approachable demeanor.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active Bar membership in the United States (specific preference for VA/MD).

Skills

• Fluent in English and Spanish; additional language proficiency is advantageous.
