Duties: Provide patent and IP support for business, including patent prosecution, competitive intelligence, and strategy targeted at emerging competitors. Coordinating FTO (Freedom to Operate) projects. Conduct an analysis by searching patent literature for issued or pending patents, to enable in-house or outside counsel to provide/obtain a legal opinion as to whether a product, process, or service may be considered to infringe any patents owned by others. Assess competitor patent portfolios relative to current and future products, and assess and mine patent portfolio relative to competitor products and develop IP strategy surrounding each. Determines priorities, defines what work should be accomplished, and decides how work should be accomplished. Allowed to change procedures or approaches, as appropriate.
