The candidate will perform duties include : Provide legal advice to the board’s Division of Drinking Water and board members relating to drinking water law, administrative procedure, federal and state statutes relating to drinking water, public finance, environmental law and related issues. Also assists and work with the Attorney General in litigation matters involving the board.Under the general supervision of a Assistant Chief Counsel and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State and Regional Boards’ Strategic Plan, is expected to be courteous and provide timely response to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and to solicit internal/external customer input when completing work assignments while performing the following tasks as an Attorney: Provide legal advice to the Division of Drinking Water personnel and State Water Board members and executive management. This includes advice and drafting of the proposed consolidation orders and orders for appointment of an administrator, providing advice, including drafting legal opinions, on drinking water permitting and enforcement, reviewing petitions for reconsideration of actions of the Division of Drinking Water and drafting orders for adoption by the Executive Director or the Board, and drafting proposed regulations and legislation. Assist the Attorney General in litigation matters involving the drinking water program. Serve has hearing counsel or prosecuting council in adjudicative proceedings involving the drinking water program.Will primarily focus on legal work related to the Safe and Affordable Drinking Water program, which will improve climate change adaptation and resiliency of disadvantaged communities by helping ensure that public water systems provide an adequate and affordable supply of safe drinking water.
