A well-established law firm in the Greater Los Angeles area is seeking a motivated Associate Immigration Attorney to focus on Consular Processing and Waivers. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career attorney to gain substantial hands-on experience managing a consular processing caseload, supervising a team of paralegals, and working closely with seasoned immigration attorneys. Duties

  • Manage a caseload focused on consular processing and waiver cases, including:

    • I-130 Petitions

    • I-601A Provisional Waivers

    • I-212 Applications for Permission to Reapply

    • I-601 Waivers

    • Consular Processing and K-Visa Applications

  • Prepare clients for consular interviews

  • Represent clients before USCIS

  • Review immigration application packets prepared by support staff

  • Supervise a team of paralegals, ensuring case productivity and meeting client expectations

  • Conduct legal analysis to assess possible case benefits and strategies

  • Draft and submit legal briefs and supporting documents for immigration cases

Requirements

  • 1 to 4 years of experience practicing immigration law

  • Prior experience handling consular processing cases and waivers

  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities

  • Effective collaboration with fellow associates and legal support teams

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

  • Experience using immigration case management software preferred

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Skills

  • Strong legal research, writing, and client counseling skills

  • Detailed knowledge of consular processing procedures and immigration waiver processes

  • Excellent organizational, case management, and strategic planning skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly with clients and staff

  • Ability to meet deadlines and productivity goals in a fast-paced environment
