A law firm in Chicago is seeking a Junior to Mid-level Associate Attorney with a strong background in patent preparation and prosecution, specifically in electrical engineering or computer science. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, exceptional academic achievements, and solid communication skills.

Duties:

• Conduct patent preparation and prosecution in the areas of electrical engineering or computer science.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their technological innovations and provide legal guidance accordingly.
• Draft patent applications, responses to office actions, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support clients in intellectual property matters.
• Participate in patent portfolio management and strategy discussions.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

• High level of academic achievement.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• The solid law firm, engineering, and industry experience.
• Experience in patent prosecution in electrical engineering or software-related technologies.
• Preferred experience in data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/AI, and hardware security.
