A reputable family law firm in Rockville, Maryland, is seeking a Senior Attorney specialized in Family Law Litigation. The ideal candidate will be an experienced attorney passionate about helping clients navigate challenging family matters while promoting positive, future-focused outcomes. As a Senior Attorney, you will handle a diverse caseload, from divorce and child custody to property division, while contributing to the firm’s growth through business development efforts. Location:

  • Rockville, Maryland

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal counsel and advocacy in all aspects of family law, including divorce, custody, support, and property division.
  • Manage and litigate family law cases, including pleadings, discovery, settlement negotiations, trials, and post-judgment matters.
  • Present persuasive arguments in court during trials, hearings, and settlement discussions, maintaining ethical and professional standards.
  • Lead negotiations and mediations to reach amicable resolutions that align with clients' goals.
  • Develop tailored case strategies based on clients’ unique needs and objectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative staff to ensure efficient case management.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with clients, providing compassionate and results-driven legal services.
  • Contribute to the firm’s business development, including client outreach and networking efforts.
  • Meet a billable hour requirement of 1,560 hours annually.
  • Ensure consistent quality in legal services, following the firm’s policies and procedures.
  • Stay updated on family law statutes, precedents, and continuing legal education requirements.
  • Take ownership of case strategies, including drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, trial memoranda, and marital settlement agreements.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Maryland (additional licensing in DC and/or Virginia is a plus).
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in family law litigation.
  • Proven courtroom experience with strong litigation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize competing tasks effectively.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Comfortable using technology to facilitate client services and team collaboration.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Client-focused with a compassionate approach to handling sensitive family matters.
  • Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Maryland Bar License (required).
  • DC and/or Virginia Bar License (preferred).

Skills:

  • Expertise in family law litigation and negotiation.
