Duties:

• Perform comprehensive prior art searches to assess patentability and freedom-to-operate

• Review technical literature, patent documents, and scientific publications

• Draft original patent applications and respond to USPTO office actions

• Assist legal professionals in patent strategy, prosecution, and litigation support

• Interpret engineering principles related to mechanical, chemical, or biomedical devices

• Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and legal professionals on innovation protection

• Contribute to developing IP strategies aligned with client objectives

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of patent-related experience in a law firm setting

• Practical industry experience in medical devices or related technologies

• Strong English communication skills—both verbal and written

• Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and work collaboratively in team environments

• Registered U.S. Patent Agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field

• An advanced degree is a strong advantage

Certifications:

• Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or qualification to register

Skills:

• Deep technical understanding of medtech and engineering concepts
