Job Overview:
A well-regarded law firm is seeking a Senior Associate/Counsel for its New York office with at least six years of experience in business and real estate litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creditor’s rights, loan workouts, CMBS issues, and judicial commercial foreclosures in both state and federal courts, including bankruptcy proceedings. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated attorney with strong analytical and writing skills to handle complex litigation matters, while also contributing to a collaborative and dynamic legal team.

Location:
New York, NY

Duties:

  • Represent clients in business and real estate litigation, focusing on creditor’s rights, loan workouts, CMBS issues, and judicial commercial foreclosures.

  • Handle matters in New York state, federal, and bankruptcy courts.

  • Provide strategic advice to clients on creditor enforcement and related legal issues.

  • Work both independently and as part of a team on complex litigation matters.

  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs, with strong attention to detail.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.

  • Participate in trial preparation and provide support during trials, hearings, and depositions.

Requirements:

  • At least six years of business or real estate litigation experience.

  • Expertise in creditor’s rights, loan workouts, CMBS issues, and judicial commercial foreclosures.

  • Strong academic credentials and demonstrated writing and analytical skills.

  • Admission to the New York Bar (mandatory).

  • Clerkship experience is preferred.

  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar and familiarity with New Jersey courts is a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently on complex client matters.

Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York Bar.

  • Admission to the New Jersey Bar (preferred but not required).

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and legal research skills.

  • Expertise in business and real estate law, with a focus on creditor’s rights and loan workouts.

  • Excellent drafting, writing, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to effectively manage complex cases and work on high-stakes matters.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
