Job Overview: A law firm seeks a qualified Mid-Level Environmental Associate Attorney with significant expertise in environmental law, encompassing regulatory counseling and litigation. The ideal candidate should possess superb legal writing skills, excellent academic credentials, and references. Previous experience in the environmental field, whether in industry, government, or non-profit sectors, is advantageous. Applicants must be licensed to practice law in New York or be eligible for licensure.

Job Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to clients on environmental law matters.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to environmental regulations, statutes, and case law.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including briefs, memoranda, contracts, and agreements.
  • Assist in environmental compliance assessments and due diligence reviews for corporate transactions.
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings, negotiations, and litigation involving environmental issues.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop strategies for environmental compliance and risk management.
  • Stay updated on developments in environmental law and advise clients accordingly.


  • Minimum of 3 years of prior work experience in environmental law.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, policies, and enforcement mechanisms.
  • Excellent legal writing skills with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Current license to practice law in New York or eligibility for admission to the New York Bar.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in the environmental sector, such as with government agencies, industry organizations, or non-profit environmental advocacy groups.
  • Familiarity with environmental litigation procedures and strategies.
  • Experience advising clients on environmental compliance and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability principles.
