Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in Alexandria, VA is seeking a driven litigation associate with experience in medical malpractice matters. Duties:

• Handle complex medical malpractice and civil litigation matters from inception to resolution

• Participate in all phases of litigation, including investigation, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation

• Conduct and defend depositions of parties and expert witnesses

• Draft pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents for court filings

• Engage in client meetings, case strategy discussions, and risk assessments

• Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations

• Collaborate with team members across offices to ensure cohesive case management

Requirements:

• 1-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice or healthcare-related matters

• Active bar admission in Virginia is required; licensure in DC or Maryland is strongly preferred

• Demonstrated ability to manage caseloads independently with minimal supervision

• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

• Prior courtroom or deposition experience is highly valued

• Commitment to ethical practice, responsiveness, and client service

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Virginia State Bar (mandatory)

• DC and/or Maryland bar admission (preferred)

Skills:

• Comprehensive understanding of procedural rules in Virginia, DC, and Maryland courts

• Ability to analyze complex medical records and expert testimony

• Excellent time management and multitasking abilities

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client and team interaction

• Proficiency in legal research tools and litigation support software
