A law firm in Southern California seeks a Family Law Attorney with 3-5 years of substantive litigation experience focused on sensitive domestic matters. This role involves active courtroom engagement and provides the opportunity to manage various cases in a dynamic, client-focused environment. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise and a passion for advocating for families during life’s most complex transitions.
Appear in court to represent clients in family-related legal proceedings, including custody disputes, divorce matters, and support modifications.
Manage a caseload of family law files from inception through resolution with minimal supervision.
Communicate directly with clients to gather information, develop legal strategies, and keep them informed throughout the legal process.
Draft pleadings, motions, declarations, and settlement agreements with precision and strategic foresight.
Participate in mediation sessions and negotiations with opposing counsel to achieve favorable outcomes.
Collaborate with legal assistants and other team members to maintain deadlines and ensure timely filings.
Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes to state laws and procedural rules affecting domestic relations.
At least 3 years and up to 5 years of hands-on experience handling family law matters, including court appearances.
Demonstrated ability to manage contested cases involving custody, visitation, and asset division.
Proficiency in preparing for and conducting hearings and trials in family law courts.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills, especially in high-stakes or emotionally charged situations.
Adept at working independently, while also thriving in a team-oriented legal setting.
Strong organizational habits and the ability to juggle multiple active files.
Currently licensed to practice law in California and be in good standing with the State Bar.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
Active California Bar membership required.
Any additional training in mediation or family law specialization is a plus, but not mandatory.
