Job Overview:
A respected law firm located in Foothill Ranch, CA is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Litigation Associate to support its growing Toxic Tort Defense and Regulatory Litigation group. The role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience managing cases from inception through resolution within a high-performing, collaborative team. Ideal candidates are proactive, communicative, and eager to develop as trial lawyers while contributing meaningfully to client defense strategies.

Duties:

• Manage a dynamic caseload with responsibility for case progress from start to finish

• Develop and execute defense strategies tailored to each matter

• Draft legal documents including motions, discovery responses, and correspondence

• Conduct depositions, argue motions, and appear in court as required

• Collaborate with clients, insurers, and internal stakeholders through consistent reporting

• Participate in trial preparation activities

• Engage with matters primarily involving toxic torts, environmental defense, and regulatory compliance

Requirements:

• Active admission to the California State Bar

• Additional admission to Oregon and/or Washington State Bar is considered an asset

• 0-3 years of litigation experience, preferably within the defense bar

• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced legal setting

• Track record of meeting deadlines and managing competing priorities

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Strong academic performance preferred

Certifications:

• State Bar certification in California (mandatory)

• Additional Bar admissions in Oregon and/or Washington (optional)

Skills:

• Strong research and legal analysis capabilities

• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills

• Meticulous attention to detail and procedural accuracy

• High level of professionalism in both client interaction and court appearances

• Capable of thriving in both team-based and autonomous work environments

• Adept at using legal research tools and document management platforms
