A law firm seeks a technology advisor or patent agent for their life sciences patent practice in Santa Monica, CA. The ideal candidate will join a dynamic team focused on patent prosecution and counseling within the life sciences sector.

Duties

• Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
• Analyze patents and scientific papers to assist patent attorneys on prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
• Participate in post-grant procedures at the USPTO.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or M.D. with research experience in Cellular & Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related field.
• Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Broad scientific knowledge in biotechnology.
• Initiative, fast learner, and ability to work well with others.
• Registered USPTO patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam.

Education

• Ph.D. or M.D. in relevant scientific field.

Certifications

• USPTO patent agent registration or eligibility.
