A law firm seeks an attorney with experience in defending workers' compensation cases to join their Springfield, IL office. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in workers' compensation defense and be admitted to the Illinois bar. This role involves representing employers and insurers in various legal proceedings.

Duties

• Gather and review medical evidence and records.
• Conduct depositions of claimants, physicians, and experts.
• Perform legal research and draft legal documents.
• Litigate cases before an administrative law judge.
• Represent clients at hearings, trials, and mediations.
• Communicate with claims representatives and manage costs.
• Compile and submit management reports.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.

Requirements

• J.D. and admission to the Illinois bar; additional Midwest state bar admission is a plus.
• Experience in workers' compensation defense work.
• Knowledge of legal principles and local, state, and federal laws.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook; Time Matters experience preferred.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and research skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree

Certifications

• Admission to the Illinois bar
