A reputable law firm located in downtown Manhattan, with additional offices across the boroughs, is seeking an experienced Divorce and Family Law Associate Attorney to join its dedicated legal team. This in-office role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment serving a diverse client base. Candidates must demonstrate strong familiarity with New York family law procedures and the ability to handle emotionally complex cases with professionalism and discretion.
Duties:
Manage a large portfolio of family and matrimonial law cases from initiation through resolution
Represent clients at court appearances, motion hearings, and conferences
Engage in strategic planning, legal research, and drafting of motions, memoranda, and legal correspondence
Maintain consistent and empathetic client communication throughout the legal process
Navigate high-pressure situations with composure and provide de-escalation support when needed
Independently manage competing priorities and deadlines
Utilize modern legal tech platforms and case management software efficiently
Requirements:
Admission to the New York State Bar
Strong background in New York family law (divorce, custody, support, etc.)
Ability to manage a fast-paced workload with minimal supervision
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Willingness to appear regularly in court and conduct client consultations
Admission to the New Jersey Bar is preferred but not required
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active and in good standing license to practice law in New York
Admission to the New Jersey Bar is a plus
Skills:
