Job Overview:

The Immigration Associate Attorney will play a pivotal role in providing legal representation and advocacy for clients navigating the complexities of immigration law. This position requires a strategic and innovative approach to identify potential immigration relief options, advocate for clients, and ensure compliance with legal standards and ethical obligations.

Duties:

  • Creatively identify eligible immigration relief options for clients.
  • Strategize and advocate for clients to resolve challenging immigration questions.
  • Prepared clients for and attended interviews with USCIS.
  • Provide leadership, support, and training to the paralegal team and other non-lawyer staff.
  • Deliver training on ethical obligations to non-lawyer team members and enforce compliance.
  • Answer legal questions from legal support teams.
  • Review and edit USCIS applications and supporting materials.
  • Stay updated about legislative, regulatory, administrative, and case law changes.
  • Provide strategic insight on case processing and seek ways to improve legal processes.

Requirements:

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active membership in good standing of a State Bar.
  • Experience working with, training, and supervising non-lawyer staff.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Advocacy-focused approach to client representation.
  • Continued improvement mindset with an innovative approach to analyzing and enhancing operations.
  • Excitement for change and growth.
  • Leadership skills and a strong work ethic.

Education and Certifications:

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active membership in good standing of a State Bar.

Skills:

  • Experience with immigration law, particularly humanitarian and family-based visa applications (e.g., VAWA, T-Visa, U-Visa, Asylum, Medical DA, I-601, DS-260, DS-160, I-130, N-400).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
