Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, seeks a dedicated Strategic Advisory and Restructuring Associate Attorney to assist public and private businesses, executives, and investors in distressed situations. The role involves providing counsel in out-of-court restructurings and Chapter 11 bankruptcies.

• Duties:

  • Advise clients on strategic alternatives and restructuring options during financial distress.
  • Draft and negotiate restructuring agreements, including debtor-in-possession financing arrangements.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex bankruptcy and restructuring issues.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys in preparing pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Represent clients in negotiations with creditors, counterparties, and other stakeholders.

• Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar (or eligibility for admission via reciprocity).
  • 2-4 years of experience in bankruptcy and restructuring law, preferably with exposure to Chapter 11 cases.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and accounting principles.

• Certifications:

  • Certification in bankruptcy law (preferred but not required).
