Job Overview:
A top-tier law firm is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Associate with 2–4 years of experience in risk management and insurance law to join its Complex Litigation and Dispute Resolution department. The associate will contribute to a high-impact legal team that handles sophisticated insurance issues across multiple coverage areas. This recruitment is managed by a legal search agency on behalf of the hiring law firm.

Location:

• Los Angeles, CA

Duties:

• Provide legal support across a wide range of risk management and insurance matters

• Assist in the negotiation and placement of standard and custom insurance programs

• Manage and monitor claims activities for corporate clients

• Offer guidance on key coverage areas, including:

  • Directors & Officers (D&O)

  • Errors & Omissions (E&O)

  • Cyber insurance

  • Transactional risk insurance

• Draft and review legal documents, memoranda, and contracts

• Collaborate with lawyers across offices and practice groups

• Serve as an internal consultant for complex insurance questions

• Contribute creative legal solutions to emerging insurance-related challenges

Requirements:

• 2–4 years of relevant legal experience in private practice or in-house legal department

• Knowledge of foundational insurance coverage principles

• Familiarity with the U.S. insurance market and its regulatory environment

• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team setting

• Excellent communication, writing, and analytical skills

• Commitment to developing specialized expertise in insurance law

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Demonstrated academic excellence

Certifications:

• Admission to a U.S. state bar, or eligibility to secure admission promptly

Skills:

• Legal analysis and drafting

• Client advising and negotiation

• Claims management and strategic risk advising

• Effective written and oral communication

• Creative problem-solving and strategic thinking

• Ability to manage multiple matters across jurisdictions
