Closed-End Funds Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm in New York City is currently seeking a Closed-End Funds Associate Attorney with a focus on the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act. The ideal candidate should possess significant expertise in closed-end investment companies, particularly listed funds, and should be knowledgeable about the rules that apply to them under federal securities laws and relevant exchanges. Experience with exchange-traded funds, variable insurance products, business development companies, investment advisers, and/or commodities work is considered a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with large law firms, in-house, or regulatory agency experience.

Duties:

• Provide legal advice and guidance on matters related to closed-end investment companies.
• Navigate the rules and regulations under the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act.
• Ensure compliance with federal securities laws and the rules of relevant exchanges.
• Handle legal matters related to exchange-traded funds, variable insurance products, business development companies, investment advisers, and commodities work.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to address legal issues.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of experience working with registered investment companies, particularly closed-end investment companies.
• Knowledge of the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act.
• Significant expertise in closed-end investment companies and applicable federal securities laws.
• Experience with exchange-traded funds, variable insurance products, business development companies, investment advisers, and/or commodities work (preferred).
• Large law firm, in-house, or regulatory agency experience (preferred).

Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act.
• Significant expertise in closed-end investment companies, particularly listed funds.
• Strong understanding of federal securities laws and relevant exchange rules.
• Experience in related areas such as exchange-traded funds, variable insurance products, business development companies, investment advisers, and commodities (preferred).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
