A law firm is currently seeking a litigation attorney specializing in medical malpractice defense to join their team in Rockford, IL. The Litigation Attorney will be responsible for handling legal matters related to medical malpractice defense, representing healthcare professionals and institutions in litigation. The ideal candidate should possess a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school and hold an active State of Illinois Law license in good standing. The candidate should have 3-7 years of experience in medical malpractice defense.

Duties:

• Defend healthcare professionals and institutions in medical malpractice cases.
• Conduct thorough legal research to understand medical issues and build effective defense strategies.
• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests, for medical malpractice defense cases.
• Collaborate with medical experts, witnesses, and clients to gather evidence and strengthen defense arguments.
• Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution processes.
• Attend court hearings, trials, and depositions as required.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active State of Illinois Law license in good standing.
• 3-7 years of experience in medical malpractice defense.
• In-depth knowledge of medical malpractice laws, healthcare regulations, and relevant legal precedents.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
