A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Criminal Defense Attorney to join their legal team in South Carolina. The attorney will play a critical role in defending individuals accused of criminal offenses. This position offers flexibility, with the option to work remotely or in-person.

Location:

Duties:

  • Conduct investigations, gather evidence, analyze case facts, and develop defense strategies for clients facing criminal charges.
  • Meet with clients for initial consultations to evaluate their cases, explain legal rights, and advise on potential outcomes.
  • Represent clients in legal proceedings, including arraignments, bail hearings, pre-trial hearings, trials, and sentencing.
  • Present arguments, cross-examine witnesses, and challenge evidence in court to protect clients' interests.
  • Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, and precedents to build strong defense strategies.
  • Collaborate with legal assistants, investigators, and experts to strengthen defense cases.
  • Engage in negotiations with prosecutors to seek favorable plea bargains or settlements.
  • Attend required firm meetings, including daily and monthly team sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience practicing criminal defense law.
  • Strong growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in South Carolina.

Skills:

  • Proven ability to manage criminal defense cases from investigation through resolution.
  • Excellent legal research, negotiation, and trial advocacy skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with legal teams and support staff.
