Job Overview:
A distinguished boutique law firm located in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a mid-level associate with substantial experience in handling litigation involving construction, commercial disputes, and real property matters. This role offers direct engagement with industry professionals including contractors, developers, and public entities, and is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic legal setting outside of the insurance defense space.

Duties:

• Consult with prospective clients to assess legal concerns and propose strategic approaches

• Develop and manage litigation strategies tailored to each case’s unique elements

• Negotiate and revise contract provisions across various commercial transactions

• Draft, respond to, and analyze complex pleadings and motions

• Appear in court for hearings, law and motion practice, and procedural matters

• Manage discovery, including document review, production, and written discovery responses

• Prepare detailed witness outlines for depositions and trial testimony

• Create comprehensive trial preparation materials such as exhibits, lists, and pretrial briefs

• Engage with clients and expert witnesses to build persuasive trial presentations

• Provide oversight and mentorship to junior legal staff on litigation and arbitration matters

Requirements:

• 5 to 7 years of relevant litigation experience

• Demonstrated experience interacting with clients and handling court proceedings

• Strong legal writing, negotiation, and analytical abilities

• Prior experience in a law firm setting

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Active member of the California State Bar

Certifications:

• California Bar admission in good standing (required)

Skills:

• Litigation strategy development and case management

• Exceptional written and verbal communication

• Proficiency with legal research tools and litigation support platforms

• Strong interpersonal skills for client and witness interaction
