Commercial Litigation Attorney

Profile

A law firm seeks a seasoned litigation attorney to join its Garden City, NY, office. The ideal candidate will support a thriving commercial and municipal litigation practice in both state and federal courts. Duties

• Manage and advance cases from inception through resolution in state and federal venues

• Conduct in-depth legal research using platforms such as Westlaw and draft persuasive briefs and pleadings

• Take and defend depositions, develop questioning strategies, and analyze testimony

• Handle all stages of motion practice, including drafting, filing, and arguing motions in court

• Participate in oral arguments at both trial and appellate levels when required

• Collaborate with colleagues to devise case strategies and identify key legal issues

• Liaise with clients to provide updates on case progress, strategy adjustments, and risk assessments

Requirements

• Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in commercial or municipal litigation practice

• Proven track record of motion drafting and courtroom advocacy in state or federal court

• Demonstrated ability to conduct depositions and handle all facets of discovery

• Familiarity with Westlaw (or equivalent legal research platforms) and strong legal writing capabilities

• Excellent oral advocacy skills, with experience arguing motions preferred

• Ability to balance a demanding caseload and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced setting

• Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients, opposing counsel, and team members

• High level of professional integrity and commitment to ethical practice

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school is required

Certifications

• Active admission to the New York State Bar

• Membership in good standing with relevant professional associations (e.g., local Bar, NYC Bar)
