Arnold & Porter has an opening for a Director of Enterprise Applications and App Development in the Washington, DC or New York office. The Director of Enterprise Applications and App Development directs, plans, coordinates, and leads the Enterprise Applications team and the App Development team. The Director provides strategic and operational direction for enterprise-wide business data applications, custom applications, web-based technologies, Mobile and Workstation images, and ensures a successful user experience for applications, images and oversees quality assurance. The Director develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure that projects are delivered with a high degree of quality and in a timely manner via a consistent approach.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across departments and practice groups and advocating on their behalf to identify and provide solutions that will successfully support their specific objectives and plans.

Implementing, championing, and ensuring compliance with project management and solution delivery processes which produce on-budget, on-schedule, and quality expectations.

Leading multiple strategic development projects and programs.

Participating in the creation of project plans, resource allocation and estimated timelines.

Leading the design, coordination and implementation of complex end user hardware, software configuration and installation projects.

Managing and monitoring M365 solutions and services.

Supporting secure operations by maintaining anti-virus and endpoint security applications and remediating vulnerabilities, security violations, and incidents within designated time constraints.

Facilitating the execution, planning, and roadmap of a continued cloud strategy for application hosting, data storage, archiving and data recovery.

Participating in meetings with other senior level IT staff and legal and administrative departments to review applicable strategic goals and priorities as related to current and new development projects.

Developing and refining goals, performance, and accountability measures to ensure staff are meeting timelines, working efficiently, and providing a high-level of service delivery.

Providing leadership and mentoring to staff including skills development, career growth and employee retention.

Working with staff to properly document workstation images and software package and adjusting the documentation to ensure system reliability.

Communicating effectively with immediate team and leadership, ensuring team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technology management, systems engineering, information technology or related field.

A minimum of ten (10) years of managing complex computerized business operations. Experience must include progressive managerial responsibilities and managing information technology projects and programs in a multinational environment with multiple offices.

A minimum of five (5) years of leading enterprise IT Applications projects in a law firm.

A minimum of seven (7) years of managing applications and desktop engineers.

A minimum of five (5) years of managing development teams of 6 developers.

A minimum of eight (8) years of managing in a hybrid environment, providing cloud-based and on-premises services and solutions.

Must have strong project management skills, PMP certification a plus.

Familiarity with various software packages used by law firms, including document management systems, Microsoft SharePoint, and accounting systems such as Elite and Aderant.

Familiarity with business analysis and business case analysis.

Familiarity with Microsoft technologies such as .Net, SQL Server, Visual Basic.

Strong experience working with end users translating business requirements into results on a timely basis.

Must have in-depth abilities in leading software development and solution delivery.

Must have strong understanding of relational database concepts.

Experience managing development teams.

Passion for technology and excellence.

Motivated self-starter who likes working on very productive teams and is a team player.

Excellent written and oral communication skills a must.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
