Job Overview

A well-respected law firm located in Grand Rapids, Michigan is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to join its team. This is a full-time, on-site position suitable for both newly admitted attorneys and those with up to 3–4 years of litigation experience. The firm is looking for candidates with excellent academic credentials, strong writing skills, and, for experienced applicants, hands-on experience in depositions and motion practice.

Location

• Grand Rapids, Michigan

Duties

• Draft and argue motions in state and federal courts

• Conduct legal research and draft supporting memoranda

• Participate in all phases of pre-trial litigation

• Assist with discovery, including taking and defending depositions

• Prepare case evaluations and contribute to legal strategies

• Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on case management

• Maintain accurate case documentation and meet procedural deadlines

Requirements

• New attorneys: Demonstrated academic excellence and strong legal writing skills

• Experienced attorneys: 3–4 years of litigation experience with a proven track record in depositions and motion practice

• Ability to manage multiple matters effectively in a fast-paced environment

• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan (or awaiting bar results with intent to obtain licensure)

Skills

• Excellent legal research and writing skills

• Strong oral advocacy and litigation techniques

• Familiarity with Michigan court procedures

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a legal team
