Litigation Attorney
The candidate participates in the firm’s marketing efforts and is responsible for client development. May be assigned to work independently or under the direct supervision of other attorney(s) employed by the firm. Conducts thorough investigations into client matters, including performs legal research and analysis and sources expert opinions. Drafts pleadings and other legal documents, such as motions and discovery requests. Ensures the accuracy of all correspondence, documents, and pleadings in connection with legal representation. Conducts discovery, including issuing subpoenas, and reviews documents. Interviews and prepares witnesses for court appearances. Advises and communicates with regularly with clients regarding the status of a matter. Attends mediation hearings and settlement conferences, when appropriate. Maintains membership in state bar and completes all required Continuing Legal Education requirements on an annual basis. Follows the ethical requirements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the state and complies with all requirements of the firm’s professional liability insurer. Experience in drafting, negotiating and reviewing legal documents is required. Good standing with the Maine Bar is required.
