Contracts Manager
the candidate will provide surge support for the AMPV team and/or execute special projects for the betterment of the CMS Contracts Function. Lead, and develop a team of contracts professionals and implement strategies to advance critical business objectives. Provide guidance to develop overarching negotiation strategies and objectives, and takes action necessary to resolve any impasses between the firm Systems and its customers. Develop solutions to complex contracting and business issues, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensure solutions are consistent with organization strategic and operational objectives. Provide expertise, guidance, training, and leadership to support cross-functional business team members. Lead discussions and/or briefings with various leadership and other key personnel, participate in complex negotiations, and develop contract management strategies to mitigate risk. Ensure efficient and effective flow of information among Contracting team, leadership team, cross-functional teams, and/or customer(s) as needed. Provide direction to team members to address and influence major contractual and business issues encountered in the proposal and execution of contracts of all types and complexity. Train, motivate and assist cross functional team members to practice effective scope control strategies to enable early identification of constructive changes that may provide BAE Systems opportunities for equitable adjustments. Interface with key government contracting and procurement officials as required and/or needed. Oversee the recruitment, retention, training and development of a highly skilled contracts workforce made up of knowledgeable business professionals and support staff. Proactively manage future career growth opportunities and succession planning, and maintain a highly talented and motivated contracts workforce. Undertake special assignments as required and perform others duties as assigned. Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies. Bachelor’s Degree and 8-10 years relevant experience is required. Master’s Degree/MBA/JD is a plus. Should have 2+ years in a leadership role managing and developing contracting professionals. Major defense article acquisition and production contracting experience is required. Proven business negotiator while exercising sound business judgement with experience engaging at high organizational levels or with persons of influence both internally and externally is required. Fixed Price Incentive Contract experience is required. Expert knowledge of FAR/DFAR regulations is required. Experience with complex contracts and proposal preparation and execution is required. Experience mentoring and training junior staff members is required. Should preferably have 2+ years in a Lead or Supervisory capacity. Should preferably have 4+ years Fixed Price Incentive Contract experience. Certification as CFCM or CPCM (NCMA) or CCM (IACCM) is preferred.
