The intern will develop relevant and flexible tax and regulatory-compliant compensation, benefit and incentive approaches for clients. Will advise clients on the taxation of compensation and benefit programs, including US and global programs. Benchmark and design executive compensation arrangements. Develop and review proxy disclosures for executive compensation. Consult on the reporting and compliance requirements of the Affordable Care Act. Support clients in complex transactions (e.g., mergers, acquisitions and divestitures). Conduct financial due diligence on HR, compensation and benefit programs. Assess operational readiness for a transaction. Advise on the tax and financial implications of severance and executive compensation arrangements. Develop strategies for HR, compensation and benefit programs. Advise clients on the implications of moving employees across global borders. Prepare tax cost estimates. Advise on compensation and payroll matters for cross-border employees. Prepare individual tax returns for expatriates. Conduct benchmarking and policy design engagements. Coordinate global engagements, including working with Global Talent Hub. Advise on the local country tax implications for individuals on assignment. Assist clients with actuarial, pension and benefit-related activities. Prepare complex actuarial valuations and related disclosures. Review annual tax and financial disclosures in connection with required annual audits. Assess financial and compliance risks in retirement and benefit plans. Prepare individual benefit calculations. Conduct plan design and benchmarking engagements. Prepare annual employee benefit plan filings with the IRS or DOL. Lead HR and payroll performance improvement initiatives. Assess service delivery models, including developing the business case for insourcing/outsourcing. Conduct HR and payroll vendor search engagements. Support the implementation of an HR or payroll outsourcing arrangement, as well as implementing HR shared services. Assist clients in developing HR technology strategies, and integrating and supporting appropriate HR information systems (HCM) and software, which support broader business initiatives. Help clients gain a 'people advantage' by setting and comparing metrics, supporting sophisticated reporting, and addressing workforce costs and HR processes. Develop data-supported workforce strategies and employee value propositions, managing talent, addressing people risk, developing capability at all levels and focusing on organizational development activities, including culture change. Must be currently pursuing or have obtained a Bachelor's or Master's degree with a concentration in one or more of the following fields: accounting or taxation (and pursuing CPA); actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics (and pursuing pension and/or health and welfare actuarial examinations or credentials with successful completion of 1-2 exams); human resource management; finance, economics or other related business major; information technology or management information systems; or a J.D. or LL.M. degree (having obtained or actively pursuing certification or membership in the Bar). Should have a strong academic record, including course work that company deems relevant to the position. Analytical and research skills are needed. Excellent client service, interpersonal, teaming, communication (written and verbal), organizational, and project management skills are essential. Strong quantitative acumen, including outstanding analytical ability is a must. Proficiency in the MS Office suite of products is required. Should have willingness and ability to travel.
