Intellectual Property Strategy Attorney
The candidate will be responsible for: Work closely with the company’s product and strategy team to define the company’s strategic intellectual property roadmap. Perform intellectual property landscaping and freedom to operate analyses in a broad range of scientific and technological areas, with emphasis on life sciences. Partner with the company’s patent prosecution team to define patentable areas for critical technology areas and guide filing strategy. Perform intellectual property assessments and diligence for key transactions including partnerships and M&A. Provide pre-litigation and litigation support, including analysis of third party infringement. Partner with the company’s transactional team to develop, implement, and manage policies for intellectual property licensing and compliance. Must have D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction. Advanced degree in a life science related discipline, such as biology, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or equivalent, is required, Ph.D. preferred. Should have 5+ years of experience practicing intellectual property law relating to the life sciences, including prosecution, litigation, and/or counseling. Must have excellent writing, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Prior experience or exposure to genomics and life sciences tools industry is strongly preferred. Significant experience managing complex intellectual property diligence projects strongly preferred.
