Legal Assistant

The candidate will work directly with the Legal Director on research, editing, and administrative work related to LCCR’s impact agenda. Will research and help project manage policy advocacy reports, do court filings, cite-checking and evidence gathering for impact litigation, write and monitor public records act requests, and manage administrative details for the Legal Director as needed. Assist with tasks related to impact litigation in our racial and economic justice dockets, as well as the policy advocacy on related issues. Assist the Legal Director with some administrative tasks. Assist with case investigation and internet research; Manage Public Records Act requests, including follow-up with public entities and analysis of records received; Help track litigation deadlines; Record hours and other data in database; Keep online case files up-to-date; File pleadings and other papers with the court. Research as needed for presentations, fact-gathering, and legislator meetings; Prepare clients for legislative testimony; Help manage and draft policy reports; Schedule and plan for coalition meetings; Communicate with community partner organizations; Interview and coordinate people directly affected by policies to participate in the state legislative process. Assist with booking travel, forms, and scheduling for LCCR’s Legal Director; Schedule and draft agendas for LCCR program meetings; Other tasks as needed. Must have strong research and writing ability. Should have strong knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Prior experience using client management databases, especially Salesforce, and mail merge functions preferred.
