Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking a skilled Claims Attorney to join their growing legal team. This role primarily focuses on handling claims related to property, casualty, and auto insurance, with responsibilities ranging from liability assessment to settlement negotiation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of insurance policies, and experience in the litigation process.

Duties:

• Investigate and assess the liability and exposure of insurance companies in personal, casualty, and property loss claims.
• Review and analyze property and casualty insurance policies to identify coverage, liability, and relevant issues.
• Stay updated on legal precedents, statutes, and regulations that impact claims and insurance coverage.
• Correspond with insureds, claimants, agents, medical specialists, and other stakeholders to gather pertinent information.
• Analyze police reports, investigative documents, and medical records to assess causality, damages, and other factors.
• Review medical bills to ensure accuracy, reasonableness, and compliance with applicable laws.
• Coordinate with experts to assist in evaluating coverage, liability, and damage issues.
• Negotiate settlements and recommend appropriate courses of action when settlements cannot be reached.
• Manage litigation claims by working with outside counsel and overseeing the claims process.
• Provide clear and timely communication to all involved parties, including insureds and other stakeholders.
• Conduct interviews and obtain recorded statements from witnesses as needed.
• Maintain organized and accurate claims diaries and reserve documentation.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements:

• Familiarity with insurance policies and property/casualty claims and coverage issues.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active State Bar membership in good standing (NJ preferred).

• Effective communicator with the ability to negotiate and resolve claims.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
