A respected defense-oriented law firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its Medical Malpractice and Litigation Practice Group in Detroit, Michigan. Duties:
Draft legal documents including motions, pleadings, and discovery responses
Conduct legal research and provide case strategy recommendations
Assist in the discovery process, including written discovery and depositions
Summarize and analyze depositions, medical records, and expert testimony
Represent clients in court appearances, motion hearings, and mediations
Negotiate settlements and communicate effectively with clients and opposing counsel
Maintain organized case files and meet multiple litigation deadlines
Collaborate with internal teams on defense strategy and case management
Requirements:
JD degree from an accredited U.S. law school
Licensed to practice law in Michigan or awaiting results from the Michigan Bar Exam
Prior experience in litigation, preferably in medical malpractice or healthcare defense
Ability to manage a diverse caseload and meet competing deadlines
Strong attention to detail, discretion, and client service orientation
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active member of the Michigan State Bar, or bar exam recently completed
Skills:
Excellent persuasive writing and verbal communication skills
Strong legal research and analytical skills
Effective communicator with ability to present complex information clearly
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Strategic thinker with organizational and time management strengths
High ethical standards and ability to manage confidential information
Familiarity with billing software is preferred
