A law firm seeks a litigation attorney for its New York, NY office to join the Design Professionals Practice Group. The role involves handling complex civil matters, focusing on construction and design professionals, and working collaboratively to achieve optimal results for clients.

Duties

• Assist partners with active litigation caseloads from inception to trial.
• Interface with clients and insurance professionals.
• Prepare witnesses for deposition and trial.
• Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
• Prepare and respond to discovery and pleadings.
• Research legal issues and draft memoranda.
• Draft and argue motions and oppositions at hearings.
• Assist with negotiating settlements and mediations.
• Evaluate liability and damages, preparing exposure evaluations.
• Support trial preparation and execution.
• Maintain accurate and timely time records.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in design professional and/or construction litigation.
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in New York.
• Experience with written discovery and motion practice.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently.
• Superior research and writing skills.
• Ability to multi-task and analyze complex matters.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in New York.
