Director of Practice Management

Responsibilities: Hire, develop, manage and lead a team of high functioning, collaborative, one-firm-minded practice managers and paralegal managers. Provide direction in all areas of practice management while creating, enhancing, and implementing best practices that drive excellent internal service. Partner with practice leaders and other administrative teams, as needed, to develop and implement strategic plans and drive value to external clients by executing on strategic initiatives and ensuring efficient operations across all offices. Lead the development, design and standardization of systems and programs to enhance section operations, drive consistency where appropriate and support differences where necessary. Collaborate with Attorney Development and HR Professional Staff team to develop strategic and equitable work assignment systems for associates, counsel, patent agents, technical advisors, and paraprofessionals. Actively monitor the function to ensure that (a) DEI concerns are addressed and (b) staffing is performed strategically to achieve bench strength, strong morale, and opportunities for professional development. Cultivate professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies; assume responsibility for keeping abreast of trends, developments and best practices in practice management and for researching, evaluating and recommending enhancements. Facilitate communication within the team, including proactively developing and managing various practice group communications to share information, policies, procedures and best practices.
